About us

Cumann Aikido na Seirbhíse Poiblí /Public Service Aikido Club is a non-profit club dedicated to the propagation of the Japanese martial art of Aikido. The club instructors give freely of their time and the cost of training is kept to such a level as to pay rent and fund the club activities.

The club (under the name Cumann Aikido Ghaeleagras na Seirbhíse Poiblí) enrolled its first students in April 1976 and provided training in Aikido through the Irish language to those who wished to improve their language skills while learning a life enhancing skill.

This dual purpose changed when the sponsoring body (Gaeleagras) relocated to premises which could not accommodate the club and the club name became Cumann Aikido na Seirbhíse Poiblí /Public Service Aikido Club. PSAC/CASP is now dedicated solely to teaching Aikido, welcoming everyone and teaching in English, but if the demand is there, training in Irish (and a number of other languages) can be provided. We have many nationalities, with a wide variation of ages, training with us.

Training is in the Aikikai tradition and the club maintains excellent relations with the major Aikido organisations in Ireland and abroad. Many overseas instructors visit us to instruct (some regularly) and members are encouraged to experience training in other dojo and with other teachers and organisations. We welcome you to come and observe and/or participate in our training.
